Shaniya Davis’ story touched millions of people, including NBA star Shaquille O’ Neal who was eager to help her family.   According to

, Shaq paid for the 5-year-olds funeral. The ceremony, held Sunday, was attended by more than 2,000 mourners. Shaniya had been missing for nearly a week when her body was found beside a rural North Carolina road on November 16. 
Since the girl’s initial disappearance, her mother, Antoinette Davis, has been charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution. Mario McNeill, Antoinette’s alleged accomplice, has been charged with kidnapping, rape and murder in this case. This comes after he admitted to being the man seen carrying Shaniya into a hotel.

After Shaniya’s body was found in the woods near Sanford, North Carolina, McNeill was subsequently charged with rape and murder.
Although the arrest warrant alleges that McNeill kidnapped the child “without the consent of the victim’s parent or legal guardian”, the Fayetteville Police Department has alleged that her mother was involved as well and that she allegedly sold her daughter into sexual slavery.
Fayetteville police arrested Shaniya’s mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, age 25, and charged her with one count of human trafficking with a child victim and one count of felony child abuse through prostitution acts.
In the arrest warrant, police allege that Ms. Antoinette Davis “did knowingly provide Shaniya Davis, with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude” and that she “did permit an act of prostitution with Shaniya Davis.”

Instead, Stan ends up working at the strip club to pay back the money he borrowed for the dry cleaners, which leads to his hilarious animated gyrating, possibly the funniest moment of the night.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV/AP) – Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal has paid for the funeral of 5-year-old Shaniya Davis, whose kidnapping and slaying received national news coverage.
On Friday afternoon, O’Neal said he was touched by the case of Shaniya Davis after seeing a news report on TV.
The girl’s body was found November 16 beside a rural road.
Her mother Antionette Davis, is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution. A second suspect, Mario McNeill, is charged with murder, rape and kidnapping.
While he didn’t talk on camera, O’Neal told us he was moved after seeing the story about the little girl and wanted to do something to help.
“That’s Shaq,” said teammate LeBron James did. “He has a huge heart and not just stuff that happens in his backyard, but all across America and the world. That’s the type of person he is.”

Mario McNeill has been charged with first-degree murder  and first-degree rape of a child. Authorities report that Shaniya was met her death by strangulation. Her body was found in bags with deer remains.

Basketball great Shaquille ONeal paid for a 5-year-old North Carolina girls funeral after learning of the sad circumstances surrounding her death, according to ContactMusic.
Shaniya Davis body was found last week after being reported missing six days earlier on Nov. 10, reports CNN. She was found roadside about 30 miles away from her home in Fayetteville, N.C.
Authorities believe Davis was kidnapped, raped, and murdered after being sold into prostitution by her mother, Antoinette Davis. Mario McNeill, an acquaintance of Davis, is charged with the murder, according to CBS News.
ONeals spokesperson said he was so moved by the story that he contacted the girls father, Bradley Lockhart, and asked what he could do to help. ONeal paid for the Nov. 22 funeral, which was attended by over 2,000 people.
