Strip club helps Haiti, a lotion thief, a bearded wife, and more: 5 headlines you might have missed
February 14, 2010, 11:44PM
1. Ladies for Haiti: A Toledo strip club has raised $1,000 for Haiti relief during what was billed as “Lap dances for Haiti.” The club donated the $10 cover charges collected Feb. 6. A local relief organizer whose group received the funds said she has no problem with where the money came from.
2. Quest for smooth skin: A Massachusetts man was arrested after police say he tried to walk out of a Bath & Body Works store with 75 bottles of lotion hidden in his pants. He tried to flee from security guards but “had a hard time running and was extremely bowlegged,” police said.
3. Close shave: An Arab ambassador in Dubai had his marriage annulled after he discovered his veiled bride had a beard and was cross-eyed. The woman had kept her face covered throughout their courtship. “The bride had a nice personality, but there was a good reason why she was hiding her looks,” said a wedding guest.

Gilbert Arenas has been suspended for the remainder of the NBA season for bringing guns into the Washington Wizards’ locker room, which is apparently against the rules. The suspension amounts to 50 games, which makes it the third longest non-drug related suspension NBA history.
The longest such suspension in NBA history was 86 games, by Ron Artest, for his part in the infamous brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich. during a game in 2004. In second place is Latrell Sprewell, who in 1997 was suspended for 68 games for choking his coach, which is also apparently against the rules.
However, the longest suspension for shooting a gun outside a strip club remains seven games, set in 2006 by Stephen Jackson, who obviously failed to beat the shot clock.

… I’ve had great audiences there,” Jeffries said. “I think all America is pretty much the same. I’m of the opinion that sense of humor is universal. I get annoyed when I meet Australian people and they ask if the Americans understand your jokes. Oh, funny is funny. Cleveland is no different from performing in Los Angeles, New York City or Russia. It’s all the same.”
While fans attending his shows may expect to hear material from “I Swear to God,” Jeffries said the only chance comes at the end of the night when he takes a few requests for certain routines. Instead, the funnyman primarily is looking ahead. In fact he said his set is based around a hilarious cornerstone tale.
“The big thing I’m talking about at the moment is I have a story about taking a friend of mine with muscular dystrophy down to a brothel,” Jeffries said. “So that’s like a 25-minute story. It’s hard to say what subject matter I do because I tell stories. So if something weird happens to me, that’s what I tell. But I don’t do observational humor.”

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: Super Bowl players put partying on hold this year

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the February 9, 2010

… ‘But just resist that for one week and then we’ll come back here, and I’ll pay for everyone’s plane ticket. And then I’ll show you around Miami, local style.’ “
It sounds simple, but history has shown time and again that some players can’t resist that temptation, even before the biggest games of their lives.
Two of the most infamous incidents involving Super Bowl players on the eve of the game happened in Miami. In 1989, Cincinnati running back Stanley Wilson was caught using cocaine on the night before the game, his third offense under the NFL’s drug policy, which got him banned from the league. Ten years later, Atlanta safety Eugene Robinson was arrested by an undercover police officer for soliciting a prostitute on the night before the game — on the same day that he had been awarded the Bart Starr Award for his high moral character.

Even though he makes his living doing reality shows and adult entertainment for clients like the E! network and the Playboy Channel, Martin’s heart and soul go into his award-winning documentaries.

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: Tonight’s council action includes arcade issue

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the February 9, 2010

I understand wanting certain businesses to be located in restricted areas.. but I highly doubt that a business that provides legal gambling needs to be places away from the other “wholesome” businesses..
who. also, decides what is a proper business, and what is not.. lets see.. gambling.. no nudity.. isn’t that what is offered at every grocery store, and gas station and convenience store in the city limits through the state lottery??? and adult businesses??? like maybe all of the bars, and clubs locally that sell alcohol to people who need to be adult in age, and yet they don’t seem to be secluded from other businesses??? and what about the smoke shops?? I am pretty sure that you need to be an adult to buy from them, and do any business with them.. how can they be existing side by side with other businesses that are deemed to be “wholesome?”

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: COMMENTARY – Council rolls dice on gambling issue

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the February 9, 2010

… Will we start policing all businesses? If I don’t smoke should we not let Cheap Tobacco (located at 461 Milan Ave.) in town? If somebody calls me to rent my space shouldn’t I be the one to determine if they should be here or not?”
Russ said he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize his main tenant (Goodwill).
“I think this is the perfect place for it,” Russ said. “We are the only strip center which does not butt up to a residential area.”
Russ’s strip mall is zoned MB (mixed business). He said the city wants to force arcades into areas zoned M2 (the industrial park).
There are no open storefronts in M2, Russ said, noting the business owner does not want to build. Plus, he said M2 butts up to the Ernsthausen Recreation Center. Is that a good place for an arcade? Russ asked.
Russ said tagging arcades as “adult businesses” isn’t fair.
“I don’t think that is an adult business,” he said. “Is Cheap Tobacco an adult business?”
