Online prostitution ads popular in Akron

“We get prostitutes that will work the street, and the services they would normally get $40 for in the back of the car or whatever now jumps up to $150 or up,” Pasko said. “This doesn’t change the atmosphere or the way the girl looks or anything about it, it’s just that it is more lucrative. People feel like they go to the hotel and they think they are getting Julia Roberts, and that’s not the case at all.”

“Ninety-five percent of our prostitutes are drug addicts, and that’s from the last six years of experience,” Pasko said. “I can’t think of a single prostitute I’ve arrested who was not a drug addict. I’m not talking about national statistics, but in Akron I’m telling you that’s the way it is.”

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: Stow teen in murder case moved to Summit County jail

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the December 28, 2011

The Akron Beacon Journal reported on Dec. 21 that Noble County does not have the ability to house juveniles in its adult jail because when in jail, minors cannot be within sight nor sound of adult prisoners.
According to the Beacon Journal, Noble County Sheriff Stephen Hannum drove Rafferty to the Akron-Canton Airport, where Summit County Jail officials took custody of him. Rafferty is in a segregated area of the jail and has access to television and all the other privileges granted to other inmates. He is also checked on every 20 minutes by a deputy.
The other suspect in the case, Richard Beasley, 52, of Akron, who has not yet been charged in the murder case, was granted a continuance Dec. 21 on his pre-trial hearing concerning unrelated drug and prostitution charges.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: Three White "Hoes" and Betty White: The Unspoken Double Standard

Posted in Cleveland strip clubs by cleveland-stripper on the December 27, 2011

The asexual black woman, unwilling to break the mold that has been cast for her, satisfied with bursts of rebellion that do nothing to challenge the status quo will always be deemed worthy of veneration — while our sexuality will continue to be suppressed and villianized.
We could cast the lion’s share of the blame on a color-blind misogyny that serves as the foundation of this nation’s patriarchal socio-political constructs — but that would be a superficial claim at best. There is something more sinister lurking in the shadows; a danger in acknowledging the innate sensuality of black women that lives beyond strip clubs, porn and reality television. Since the days of slavery, and subsequently Jim and Jane Crow, the devaluation of black women has been systemic, malicious and purposeful.

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: In Cleveland’s ’second downtown,’ jazz once filled the air

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the December 26, 2011

… It used to be that even the top jazz people would play for low fees, but during the 1960s, those fees climbed enormously as they became more popular,” says Mosbrook. After a time, “local clubs couldn’t afford it — instead of a couple of hundred dollars a week, it was a few thousand.”
And times were changing. The ’60s brought civil unrest. Bomb threats began to be called into clubs where audiences were racially mixed. Eventually, a bomb went off at a popular club known as the Jazz Temple.
Students from nearby colleges began to seek out something different, too — folk music at La Cave, which was also in the neighborhood and featured such performers as Judy Collins and Peter, Paul and Mary.
“For a long time in this neighborhood, you had the students, the traffic, girls, prostitutes — there was never any friction,” recalls Krivda. “You had exploding black consciousness, white students, mavericks like me, and no police issues.

AKRON, Ohio — A 16-year-old boy who faces trial as an adult in a deadly Craigslist robbery scheme has been moved to an adult jail that can house juveniles in a separate unit.
Brogan Rafferty, who had been held at a juvenile detention center, is charged with killing one man and attempting to kill another who answered a Craigslist ad for a bogus job in southeast Ohio’s Noble County.
A second suspect, Richard Beasley, 52, a self-styled chaplain and mentor to the teen, is jailed on unrelated drug and prostitution charges. Summit Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh has pledged to seek the death penalty against Beasley.
Rafferty, a junior at suburban Stow-Munroe Falls High School, has been transferred to the Summit County Jail, where the administrator told the Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/ttjHbU ) that the jail meets requirements that Rafferty be kept separate from adult inmates, unlike the Noble County Jail.

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: Cleveland Group Thinks Casino Will Give Rise to More Sex Trafficking

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the December 21, 2011

… We believe that with casinos moving into town comes the increased chance of forced prostitution,” says Jesse Bach, founder of the Cleveland-based Imagine Foundation, which advocates against human trafficking. “We look forward to the opening of the casino, hoping that management trains employees on the identification and reporting of those they believe to be in exploitative situations.”
The link between illicit sex and Artie Kaminski of Seven Hills blowing his Social Security check on slot machines could not be confirmed as of press time. But multiple sources report that Las Vegas and Atlantic City have legal gambling in addition to illicit sex, so this does not look good for Cleveland.
To combat the brewing menace, the Imagine Foundation is creating a hotel/motel training program called Care Cleveland, which aims to teach hospitality workers how to assist victims of forced prostitution or forced labor. The program will be offered to area hotels and motels early in the new year.

Cleveland Adult Entertainment: Juvenile Craigslist murder suspect moved to adult prison

Posted in Cleveland adult entertainment by clevelandconfidential on the December 21, 2011

Rafferty will be tried as an adult. He has been charged with the attempted murder of Scott Davis, 48, and the murder of David M. Pauley, 51. The two men both responded to an October ad on Craigslist offering a caretaker position on a ranch in rural Ohio for $300 a week.
The bodies of two more men, Ralph Geiger, 55, and Timothy Kern, 47, were found buried in shallow graves after Rafferty’s arrest and are believed to be connected to the same job offer advertised on Craigslist, according to law enforcement officials.
Summit County prosecutor spokeswoman April Wiesner could not comment on Rafferty’s transfer, citing a gag order put in place by Noble County Judge John Nau in November.
The other suspect in the case, Richard J. Beasley, 52, was to have a court hearing on Wednesday for prostitution and drug charges but his lawyer was granted a delay until January 19.
