Two businesses — a yoga studio/massage parlor and dance studio — will ask the Mentor Planning Commission for conditional use permits during its meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
Awaken Yoga Studio, School and Healing Arts Studio wants to open a yoga studio at 7312 Center St.
The 832-sq.-ft. building has previously housed a bridal shop, pet grooming facility and a needlepoint store, according to the staff report the city of Mentor prepared for the Planning Commission.
Awaken Yoga operates out of Shore Cultural Center in Euclid for now.
If the permit is approved, it hopes to host yoga classes of eight to 10 students twice a day in Mentor, according to the staff report.
The location would also offer Thai yoga massage classes and sessions.
Also at the Planning Commission meeting, Tina Caniglia and Peter Santorelli are asking for a permit to run the Gotta Dance Studio at 8824 Mentor Ave. in the Mentor Town Plaza.

Cleveland Massage Parlors: Massage parlor worker never served sentence

Posted in Cleveland massage parlors by cleveland-massage on the July 20, 2011

… There was no other documentation done repealing or recalling the bond, so it just sat there,” Will said.
According to court documents, no warrant was ever issued for Myers’ arrest, so even if she had encountered law enforcement she wouldn’t have been taken into custody.
Myers’ attorney, Roger Tiktin, said he hadn’t spoken with his client in years until the old case resurfaced earlier this year. He said he assumed that Myers was picked up after the appeals court upheld her conviction and served out her sentence.
Will said he worked on the investigation into the Shang Hai spa back in the 1991 while he was still an Elyria police detective. He said he recalled few details of the investigation from that time, when the city’s police were dealing with several massage parlors offering extra services to clients.

The closed Detroit Theater in Lakewood should not be replaced with a McDonald’s. Better options exist. Does City Hall care?
7:00 PM
Public meeting to discuss better options than the reported plan to put a fast food McDonald’s where the recently closed Detroit (movie)Theater is – whether a re-opened Detroit Theater or something else, but not a McDonald’s. Many would object if an abortion clinic, seedy massage parlor or air-polluting factory was planned for that site. So why accept McDonald’s? City Council saved St. James Church from demolition by declaring it a historic building. Why not the Detroit Theater? Activists saved the Euclid LaSalle movie theater and West 65th and Detroit Capitol movie theater.
Location:
Multi-purpose room, first floor, Lakewood Public Library 15425 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio.

Cleveland Massage Parlors: Tobin asked to explain the `on side’ claim at ICAC

Posted in Cleveland massage parlors by cleveland-massage on the March 15, 2011

WILLOUGHBY Council’s general manager Nick Tobin says he won’t go “anywhere near a football box in the future” after he gave evidence at last week’s corruption inquiry.
The Independent Commission against Corruption is investigating the alleged corrupt conduct of a council building inspector Edward Karkowski who handled development applications in the Chatswood CBD area.
During the four-day hearing last week, the inquiry heard evidence that Mr Karkowski had done favours for several people, including developer Sam Koura, who had applied for planning approvals to Willoughby Council.
The corruption watchdog heard how Mr Karkowski had received meals at expensive restaurants and sessions at massage parlours which he did not disclose to the council.
The corruption watchdog also investigated the factors that allowed the alleged corrupt conduct to occur. On Thursday, the council’s general manager Nick Tobin was asked by Commissioner David Ipp, QC, for his view of a “zero tolerance gift policy”.

Cleveland Massage Parlors: Willoughby Council building inspector tells ICAC: `I never meant any malice’

Afterwards the inquiry heard that Mr Jee took him to lunch at Zilver restaurant and he also took him for other lunches and dinners including a $500 lunch at Blue Angel restaurant.
The corruption watchdog also heard evidence involving a property developer called Sam Koura.
Mr Karkowski admitted taking an unfinalised report about a property Mr Koura was developing from the desk of another council employee, photocopying it and giving it to Mr Koura in July 2010.
“I don’t think giving him that report would’ve given him any advantage other than he would’ve found out the result a little bit earlier than he would’ve when it was released,” he said.
The inquiry heard that the day after he provided the report, Mr Koura took him to lunch and paid for him to go to a massage parlour.

Cleveland Massage Parlors: Businesswoman Zoya Reyzis shares the tales behind the nails

Posted in Cleveland massage parlors by cleveland-massage on the December 16, 2010

Funny: When Zoya and Michael were first setting up shop, they encountered language and cultural barriers. The East Side of Cleveland was very different from Odessa in southern Ukraine.
“We met a woman who had emigrated from Russia,” Zoya recalls. “She was a professionally licensed masseuse. She approached us about opening her business in our salon. We liked the idea because the massage was a very popular part of the spa culture of Eastern Europe.
“So Michael puts an ad in the paper saying that we had just included a new massage parlor in our salon. We soon found out the meaning of a massage in this country was very different from our country. We had men lining up to get massages. We had to throw them out of the place. They wanted something different than what we were offering. It became so much trouble, we dropped it all together.”

Warren’s mayor wants new regulations for massage parlors
WARREN, Ohio – Warren’s mayor will be proposing some new regulations for massage parlors in the city.
Mayor Michael O’Brien tells 21 News the regulations are similar to an ordinance in Cleveland.
They would require the owners of a massage parlor to keep an active roster of client’s names, addresses, the types of services being performed and the cost.
“I think it’s important for safety regulations to be implemented to make sure we know who the technicians and the clients are.  Those rosters are to be open to inspection for the police department, the deputy director of the health department and their representatives,” O’Brien said.
Mayor O’Brien believes clients are not from the Mahoning Valley but people visiting the city from about an hour away off the turnpikes and Interstates,

Sex addiction may have found a new poster boy in former Cleveland Cavaliers player Winston Bennett. The 45-year-old Bennet, who was the Cavaliers’ third-round pick in the 1988 draft, revealed in an interview with ESPN that he slept with about 90 different women every month due to a severe sex addiction.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star said he “very seldom” used protection while getting it on with three to four women a day. He said that it did not matter where he made out–Malls, restaurants, prostitution dens, massage parlors–anywhere. He spent a big chunk of his time satisfying his sexual appetite. “I spent a great deal of time either having sex, cruising for sex, calling for sex, looking for sex.”

Cleveland Massage Parlors: Winston Bennett, Sex Addict: I Slept With 90 Women A Month (VIDEO)

Winston Bennett played in the NBA during the late 1980s and early 90s, and while he may have been known for his on-court ability, he harbored an off-court passion that nearly consumed him.
In an interview with ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” Bennett details his sex addiction, explaining that he slept with 90 women per month before he got married — and approximately half that total after his wedding.
He says he would meet the women seemingly anywhere: “Malls, restaurants — let’s not forget — prostitutes, massage parlors.” His obsession with sex occupied huge swaths of time. “I spent a great deal of time either having sex, cruising for sex, calling for sex, looking for sex,” Bennett told ESPN. He “very seldom” used protection.
Bennett’s basketball career afforded him an “unbelievable” dating life. “One was never enough,” he said. “Three or four in a day was very typical for me.” Just one day after getting married, Bennett says he slept with another woman, and he later gave his wife two sexually transmitted diseases.
