Cleveland Strip Clubs: Zoning proposal in Berea would regulate adult businesses

Posted in Cleveland strip clubs by cleveland-stripper on the March 4, 2010

The chapter, however, also contains restrictions. According to the proposal, such adult-oriented businesses cannot be closer than 500 feet of a district that is zoned residential; a business that is licensed to sell beer or intoxicating liquor; a pool/billiard hall; video or pinball business; place of worship; public or private school; library; licensed day-care facility; public playground or similar activity attended by those under 18 years of age and others.
Mayor Cyril M. Kleem said the three measures are part of the city’s overall zoning code review that should be completed by year’s end.
“The big picture is, before we called the moratorium, an adult business, which doesn’t mean your traditional strip club, can locate just about anywhere in the city,” he said. “By creating this zoning code, we are not making any attempt to invite adult businesses. We are trying to designate an area where they could locate. Legally, they have a right to be in the community.”

Cleveland Strip Clubs: Private poker club opens in Berea

Representatives of the club’s ownership attended a Planning Commission meeting seeking a conditional use permit. During the meeting several commission members asked questions and the club’s representatives responded openly to them.
Matt Madzy, board chairman, said members reviewed the request. They looked at the seven points they are required to consider. He said the commission looked at the general use in that location. Members agreed that it was a permitted conditional use.
Madzy added activities at the site would be in compliance with the state gambling laws. If not, someone would then look into the issue. And the conditional use permit would be revoked.
The commission approved the conditional use permit as long as the club conforms with the state and city’s gambling laws, Berea’s signage laws and the mechanical amusement licensing section of the zoning code. It also added the club would not operate as a strip club and alcohol was prohibited.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: Buffalo Catholic Diocese finds buyers for many churches closed in downsizing

The sale price on St. Gerard has not yet been set, said Keenan, but it will be sold at market value, just like the rest of the churches whose sales have generated more than $4 million.
“None of that money goes to the diocese,” he said. “It goes to the new parishes.”
Toward the end of the closing process, Buffalo Bishop Edward Kmiec established a “Church Property Re-use Committee,” made up of developers, real estate brokers, architects and preservationists to come up with ways to market the properties.
“Our bishop is big on collaboration,” said Keenan.
The diocese kept some of the properties for various uses and still has 20 churches for sale.
“We have sales pending on a number of them,” said Keenan, noting that deed restrictions prohibit buyers from using the former churches for abortion clinics, strip clubs, fortune-telling establishments, saloons or casinos.

Strip club helps Haiti, a lotion thief, a bearded wife, and more: 5 headlines you might have missed
February 14, 2010, 11:44PM
1. Ladies for Haiti: A Toledo strip club has raised $1,000 for Haiti relief during what was billed as “Lap dances for Haiti.” The club donated the $10 cover charges collected Feb. 6. A local relief organizer whose group received the funds said she has no problem with where the money came from.
2. Quest for smooth skin: A Massachusetts man was arrested after police say he tried to walk out of a Bath & Body Works store with 75 bottles of lotion hidden in his pants. He tried to flee from security guards but “had a hard time running and was extremely bowlegged,” police said.
3. Close shave: An Arab ambassador in Dubai had his marriage annulled after he discovered his veiled bride had a beard and was cross-eyed. The woman had kept her face covered throughout their courtship. “The bride had a nice personality, but there was a good reason why she was hiding her looks,” said a wedding guest.

Gilbert Arenas has been suspended for the remainder of the NBA season for bringing guns into the Washington Wizards’ locker room, which is apparently against the rules. The suspension amounts to 50 games, which makes it the third longest non-drug related suspension NBA history.
The longest such suspension in NBA history was 86 games, by Ron Artest, for his part in the infamous brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich. during a game in 2004. In second place is Latrell Sprewell, who in 1997 was suspended for 68 games for choking his coach, which is also apparently against the rules.
However, the longest suspension for shooting a gun outside a strip club remains seven games, set in 2006 by Stephen Jackson, who obviously failed to beat the shot clock.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: Aints to Saints: how the New Orleans football team won the hearts of the nation

Posted in Cleveland strip clubs by cleveland-stripper on the February 8, 2010

Back in New Orleans, in Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and the French Quarter, in neighbourhoods that were until recently scenes of dereliction, the city erupted in one giant party that lasted till dawn and set the scene for the ultimate Mardi Gras celebrations over the coming week.
People poured on to the streets in the team’s black and gold colours, dancing, hugging and weeping. “Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?” they chanted. Jazz bands let rip. Bars blasted out When the Saints Go Marching in. Fireworks exploded.
Police officers gave up the pretence of staying aloof and joined the pulsating throngs. Strippers stopped dancing. Priests and nuns joined the uproar. The city’s newspaper, The Times-Picayune, printed nearly 200,000 extra copies of an edition that is certain to become a collector’s item. Even dogs were dressed in Saints shirts, and Mitch Landrieu’s election on Saturday as New Orleans’ first white mayor in three decades was overshadowed.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: Early Mardi Gras at New Orleans

Posted in Cleveland strip clubs by cleveland-stripper on the February 8, 2010

LOUISIANA: Ecstatic fans poured into
the streets of the French Quarter late on Sunday as storm-scarred New Orleans
celebrated its first-ever Super Bowl win by their beloved Saints.
A
city famous for diversions – Mardi Gras, music and colourful politics, to name a
few – set aside distractions to focus on the big game. Even the strippers on
bawdy Bourbon Street stopped dancing. Instead, they joined thousands of
revellers cheering the Saints on live television sets at nearby bars.
“We have no music, no stages. It’s the first time I’ve seen a club
shut down and I’ve been doing this for five years,” said Sam Stonebraker, 34, a
host at Rick’s Cabaret. “The game is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime event in
this city.” White fireworks burst in the distance. Strangers hugged, whooped and
hollered in the streets, waving flags, shaking cowbells and dancing to
spontaneous brass bands. College students embraced restaurant waiters. A
homeless man toasted beers with well-dressed tourists. Cameras flashed.
Motorists honked horns with a cheerful cadence usually heard only at Carnival.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: How the New Orleans Saints emerged from the chaos of Hurricane Katrina to win …

Las Vegas has the gambling dens and bright lights but when America wants to party hard, when the people want to let their hair down and not give two hoots how it looks, they head for the Crescent City.
The Big Easy has long had a reputation as a modern-day Sodom, a place where anything goes, where you can drink all day and all night, and where you are viewed a little strangely if you don’t.
It is a city of strip clubs and street hustlers, home of Mardi Gras and a place where, in the middle of the afternoon, women rip off tops and bras, and let it all hang out on Bourbon Street for no more reward than a baying crowd and a few necklaces of festival beads.

Cleveland Strip Clubs: New Orleans explodes with joy after Saints win

… Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints! Who dat? Who Dat!,” a crowd in a French Quarter restaurant chanted, after the team scored their first touchdown.
A city famous for diversions – Mardi Gras, music and colourful politics, to name – set aside distractions to focus on the big game.
Even the strippers on bawdy Bourbon Street stopped dancing. Instead, thousands of revelers cheered the Saints on live television sets at nearby bars.
“We have no music, no stages. It’s the first time I’ve seen a club shut down and I’ve been doing this for five years,” said Sam Stonebraker, 34, a host at Rick’s Cabaret, a gentleman’s club. “The game is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime event in this city.”
On a typical night, the club has 40 “entertainers” dancing on stage – not tonight.
A few doors down, the Temptations strip club was also upstaged by the Saints Super Bowl.
