But before Torres was sentenced, his attorney, Patrick D’Angelo, called into question the credibility of a woman who has bounced in and out of the system for years and currently is serving a year in prison on drug charges. D’Angelo called the victim a career criminal who knows how to game the system, and he accused her of using her cooperation in the Torres investigation as a bargaining chip with police and judges. The lawyer told a different story of what happened on Dec. 8, 2008. He said the prostitute consented to performing oral sex on Torres, for which he paid her $5. No violence occurred, and Torres did not coerce the prostitute or threaten to take her into custody on the arrest warrants if she didn’t comply, D’Angelo said.
