Cleveland Adult Entertainment: VIDEO: Korean War veteran remembers start of conflict on 60th anniversary
… Our planes hit North Korean airfields at Pyongyang,” Muzilla said. “They hit railroad yards and our Panther F-9Fs took out Russian-built aircraft.”
When Muzilla enlisted, in 1948, after graduating from Clearview High School, he signed up for a three-year hitch.
“But six days before my release date, my friend President Truman kept me in an extra year,” he said.
Muzilla never went ashore in Korea, so he didn’t see combat firsthand.
But he saw a different kind of conflict while on shore patrol in Japan, where American troops went to blow off steam.
“I saw beautiful night clubs and houses of prostitution,” he said. “You had to take off your shoes to go inside, so we’d count the shoes left outside to know how many guys were inside. We found plenty of drunk Americans, but they never gave us a hard time.”
