Cleveland man gets eight years for string of robberies
ELYRIA — A Cleveland man connected to a string of robberies in Amherst, Lorain and several townships in 2002 was sentenced to eight years in prison on Wednesday.
Jose Ortiz, 25, was sentenced by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Raymond Ewers for nine counts of burglary, and solo counts of attempted burglary, receiving stolen property, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, criminal damaging, failure to comply, resisting arrest, robbery, two counts of theft, assault, breaking and entering and obstructing official business.
Former Club 57 property being foreclosed on
ELYRIA — The property where a former Elyria strip club was operated is being foreclosed upon by the Lorain County treasurer.
DAS9 Properties and PS Realty Partnership, owners of the property that housed the now closed Club 57, 1854 Lorain Blvd., owe more than $63,000 in real estate taxes to the county, according to a complaint filed in Lorain County Common Pleas Court.
