Cleveland Strip Clubs: ODOT employees, vendor sentenced in bid-rigging
In addition to the prison sentences handed down in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, thousands of dollars in restitution was ordered from former ODOT auto mechanic William Werman, 58, of Garfield Heights; ODOT vendor Craig Gorsuch, 58, of Wellington; and former ODOT storekeeper Joseph Jedrzejek, 37, of Garfield Heights.
Werman pleaded guilty in August to having an unlawful interest in a public contract and must pay $20,000. Gorsuch pleaded guilty to bribery and is ordered to pay $10,000. And Jedrzejek, who pleaded guilty to theft, owes $8,000 in restitution.
Nine defendants have pleaded guilty so far to charges stemming from an 18-month investigation into corruption among high-ranking officials in ODOT’s District 12 headquarters in Garfield Heights.
The Ohio inspector general released a report last October describing decade-long practices of bid-rigging and fraud in which vendors plied local ODOT officials with cash, vacations and sex with strippers in return for state contracts.
