Jesse Jackson’s “Race Card” Misfire

First we have the NAACP’s decision to play the card against the Tea Party movement, which we’ve addressed here.  Not to be outdone, though, we have longtime poverty pimp and race card player Jesse Jackson slapping one down against Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
Why? Well, Gilbert vented his spleen last week in an open letter to Cleveland fans after James left the team to sign as a free agent with the Miami Heat.  Specifically, Gilbert called James’ decision a “selfish”, “heartless”, “callous”, and “cowardly betrayal.”
“His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality,” Jackson said in response. “He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.”
Ummm … for those of you unfamiliar with the history of the Cavaliers relationship with James, the team paid him tens of millions of dollars over the last seven years.  On top of that, James (and his family, friends and entourage) received crazy perks from the franchise – jobs, free travel, etc.

They included profaning the Eucharist and, in the case of priests, breaking the Seal of Confession or soliciting sex from a person during confession. To this list, the Pope added pedophile acts. The 2001 document was revised in 2003 to add other crimes, such as the recording of a confession by anyone.

Superstar Barbara Stanwyck, growing up in a Brooklyn slum, had to be tough and capitalized on it â she made it work for her in a variety of characterizations that have enriched great movies and enhanced ordinary ones.
Her roles have included a con artist, jewel thief, reporter, stripper, moll, pioneer, society lady, killer, taxi dancer, eyewitness, rancher, dizzy debutante, nurse, evangelist, concert pianist, gambler, imposter, wife, mother, daughter, the other woman, white squaw, lesbian madam, and matriarch.
She was born Ruby Stevens on the morning of July 16, 1907 at 246 Classon Ave. (near present Pratt Institute) in Brooklyn, to Byron and Catherine McGee Stevens. She was of Scotch-Irish descent.
Her father was a tall, gaunt laborer who was then unemployed. Her mother had been in ill health for months. There were three older sisters, Maude, Mabel and Mildred and an older brother Malcolm.

The newspaper says Steelers president Art Rooney negotiated the deal. Terms were not available.
NEW CITY, N.Y. – Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to an indictment that alleges he had sex with a 16-year-old girl in a New York hotel room.
The former NFL star allegedly paid US$300 to the girl, a Bronx runaway, for their encounter in May. Taylor pleaded not guilty through his lawyer to third-degree rape, patronizing a prostitute, sexual abuse and endangering a child.
